Don’t miss any payments on any of your cards. The banks are toughening up who qualifies for their zero per cent deals – they don’t want to many of the so-called ‘rate tarts’ who simply jump from one low rate to another. Many are now likely to turn people down who don’t have perfect credit scores. So if you miss any monthly payments and damage your credit record you may struggle to find a new balance transfer deal in the future.
